Golf Ireland and Minister Thomas Byrne TD welcomed the creation of a new schools programme as part of the Golf Ireland Major Events Legacy Programme at Scoil Bhríde in Kilbride, Co.Meath. Golf Ireland is targeting over 500 primary and post-primary schools to engage with the programme, more than 1,000 people to be trained in schools and community settings to deliver golf activities, and 200,000 participants over a five-year period in all golf development activities. The announcement was made in conjunction with a taster session that gave the pupils of Scoil Bhríde a chance to try golf for the first time and meet the new Golf In The Community Officers delivering the initiative, who's roles are funded by the government and supported by Sport Ireland.
